What to do in case of a Fire?

ASB continues providing useful information about disaster risk reduction and First Aid.

Disasters may take place anytime and everywhere. Each of us may find ourselves in a disaster area, therefore, we need to be prepared to take appropriate steps in a timely manner.

Let’s describe what to do in case of a fire.

  • Stay as close to the floor as possible, in a half-bent position, and leave the building as soon as possible;
  • Do not use water to extinguish fire on electric devices;
  • Do not open the window and hide in the building (for example, under the bed or table). Try to leave the building immediately!

If you feel like you cannot breathe well because of the lack of oxygen, there are several useful ways to stay safe:

  1. Put your fist between your chest and navel. Move your fist back and forth, to an opposite direction, in a fast manner.
  2. Lean against the chair and press your stomach tightly to the back of the chair.
  3. Lay on the floor in a pushup position, do several pushups and inhale air quickly; After performing this step, lay on the floor, raise your head and try to lay on your chest while keeping your hands raised the air;
  4. Do not speak, do not drink liquids and do not take a deep breath.
